Whoop is Advancing AI Capabilities with Snowflake
Whoop, the Boston-based wearable technology company known for its health and fitness tracking devices, is rapidly expanding its use of artificial intelligence across its organization. Powering this growth is Snowflake’s robust data management and increasingly advanced AI development platform.

Whoop’s wrist-worn device tracks metrics like heart rate, recovery, sleep, and stress, helping users—including several renowned professional athletes such as Michael Phelps, LeBron James, and Cristiano Ronaldo—optimize their performance and well-being. The company’s products generate vast amounts of data, which until recently presented major management challenges.
Whoop migrated to Snowflake in 2022 after experiencing performance bottlenecks and high costs with previous systems. With Snowflake, not only did Whoop improve query performance and reduce downtime, but it also lowered operational costs by tens of thousands of dollars each month.

As Snowflake evolved from a cloud data platform to a leader in AI development, Whoop began leveraging new features—such as Snowflake Cortex and agentic AI tools—to build AI applications. These tools help employees become more informed and efficient, and allow the company to create natural language interfaces that enable staff to interact with proprietary data for insights in areas like marketing, sales, and customer sentiment analysis.
"At the current pace of development, I believe that within the next 12 months we're going to be at a point where I can come up with use cases for every single department," said Matt Luizzi, Whoop’s senior director of business analytics.

With AI now deeply embedded in Whoop's culture, the company’s ongoing partnership with Snowflake is poised to keep pushing boundaries. As AI models improve and Snowflake’s capabilities grow, Whoop expects to rapidly identify and deploy innovative AI solutions across its business.
